Basic characteristic and at the same time advantage of dual programmes is the interconnectedness of practical professional and scholarly qualifications In switching between the theory phase and the practical phase the student participates in courses and lectures and as a trainee moves through the various departments of the cooperating company. Within four years of study very good scientific and practically oriented competencies in the fields of production technology and management, in the field of aviation and space technology (degree: Bachelor of Engineering) as well as craftsmanship in the framework of skilled worker training are imparted (final examination to take place with the chamber of commerce and industry). Admission requirements are the advanced technical college entrance qualification or the general university entrance qualification (Abitur) and the conclusion of a traineeship contract with a partner company. Cooperating companies are EADS Astrium and Airbus. Collaboration with additional large and medium-sized firms in the region are planned. The first three semesters serve to impart the foundations of mathematics, physics, mechanics, business management, English, thermodynamics, materials technology, informatics, electrical engineering as well as structural design and CAD. Following the internship phase in the fourth and fifth semester, in semesters six to eight various elective modules from the fields of production technology, mechatronics, aviation and space engineering , materials technology (fibre composite materials, CFK) as well as the final paper (Bachelor's thesis) are included in the syllabus.
