Course Details

BA (Hons) Fine Art

Course Description

Self directed studio practice is the core activity of the course. A programme of lectures, seminars and group discussions on relevant issues links the contextual studies, art history and professional practice elements of the course with the studio based practical work. By integrating practical and theoretical studies in a meaningful way the course will help you develop your visual creative potential and locate your practice within an effective critical and historical framework. Building on the technical workshops and concepts explored during the structured first level of the course, you will gain the necessary confidence and independence to propose your own area of interest and enquiry. In the second level you will test your methods, and develop a set of working practices that will underpin the production of a substantial body of work at level three. The Professional Practice module, which runs alongside your professional practice, gives you the opportunity to experience working in a professional role beyond the environment of the institution.
