It will provide you with a solid knowledge of the challenges facing businesses today and the part that marketing, finance and operations play in creating success. Business and HRM graduates need to have a distinct grounding in all aspects of Human Resource Management practice and the strategic management of business issues. A key feature of the programme is the blend of academic theory with practical application, which is brought to life through current case study examples and visiting speakers from industry. The course has been designed in consultation with industry. A key feature of this programme is the wide range of options open to you allowing you to tailor the course to your interests. The first year focuses on a broad range of business related topics including the business environment, marketing and finance as well as HRM to provide you with a firm basis from which to progress your studies. In the second year you will build on your business knowledge and start to gain a more detailed understanding of how different parts of the business are managed. You will develop further skills in people management and business problem-solving. There are a range of modules that you can choose from in the second year, enabling you to map your interests to the programme of study. You can undertake work experience, using work-based learning to gain credits towards your degree and there will be opportunities for you to explore your own business ideas and to launch your own enterprise. In the final year you will further enhance your business and HRM knowledge at a strategic level and pursue an in depth piece of research for your dissertation topic. We can also offer you the unique opportunity to pair up with an industry practitioner to help and support you with your research.
