Aeronautical Engineering enables you to develop specialist aeronautical engineering knowledge, supported by a solid foundation of mechanical engineering knowledge and skills. MEng students study for an extra year enabling them to explore masters-level subjects, extending their technical understanding and developing management expertise and their knowledge of business processes. This course is accredited by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) and the Institution of Engineering and Technololgy (IET) as meeting the educational requirements stage for chartered engineer status (CEng). You'll have the chance to gain hands-on experience in an optional placement year which will significantly enhance your CV. The industrial relevance of the course is enhanced by staff who are actively engaged with local industry and in conducting industrially relevant research.

Careers and employability This degree is very popular in industry and our graduates have a good employment record. Recent graduates have gone on to jobs including mechanical engineer at McAlpine Helicopters Ltd, logistics administrator for Lucas Aerospace and trainee graduate engineer at MSX International. Graduates are also well placed to go on to further study or research at the university or elsewhere.
