Course Description

Our Applied Psychology and Criminology degree programme engages these disciplines with the world beyond university and teaches their relevance to our everyday lives. It teaches you to apply psychological knowledge to your own experiences, emotions and behaviours and to understand the psychological dimension of contemporary society. You also consider why some people adopt deviant lifestyles or make criminal choices, think about how crime might be prevented, and acquire the interpersonal skills to work with offenders, victims and others in the criminal justice and community safety fields. You have the opportunity to spend a portion of your second year in a work placement so you can gain practical experience in a community setting and improve your employability in the process.
