Architecture RIBA Part 1 BA(Hons)

Course Description

Studying Architecture at the University of Brighton means getting the right start for your professional career as an architect. Your experience will be design-led, research-informed, hands-on and industry-linked, giving you all the skills to join the world of architecture. You'll work together with fellow students in our lively shared studio space, making, modelling and drawing. You'll also be working beyond the university on site-specific projects with local communities. Using your imagination and creativity, you'll explore and test ideas, generating and sharing new possibilities rather than replicating existing ones. Your tutors are engaged, approachable and professional. They are researchers, creative thinkers and professional architects. Many run their own award-winning architectural practices, ensuring that you are at the forefront of current design thinking and well-prepared for a career. Planning your future career will be an integral part of your study and our links with RIBA South East offer opportunities for one-to-one mentoring with professional architects helping you to develop skills that will be valued by future employers. Students have gone from Brighton into both local and internationally-renowned practices, including: Andrés Jaque Architects, Atelier Van Lieshout, de Rijke Marsh Morgan, Junya Ishigami, Norman Foster, Sauerbruch Hutton and Studio Bow Wow. Together with your fellow students you will take part in staging your own series of events through the Brighton Interior Architecture and Architecture Society (BIAAS) student society. As well as film screenings and exhibitions this includes inviting your choice of inspirational speakers from the world of design and creative practice. The Architecture BA(Hons) at Brighton is a professionally-recognised qualification which leads to exemption from Part 1 of the Architects Registration Board (ARB) and the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) examinations.
