Access to Higher Education Diploma (business)

Course Description

Access to HE Diplomas are designed to prepare mature learners for higher education (HE). They have been specifically designed for people who may have little in the way of formal educational qualifications, but who bring to the course a variety of life and work experience, a desire to learn and a willingness to study. A supportive learning environment is provided by using a variety of methods, including lectures, seminars (student-centred discussion), tutorials, group work, practical workshops and private study, based on a weekly timetable. You may be required to undertake work experience and educational visits when appropriate. The course is made up of three modules and you will also have the opportunity to study literacy, numeracy and information technology.

Career outcomes

In the past, students have progressed onto university courses, such as marketing, accounting and finance, economics, human resource management, business administration, public administration and business information technology. There is also an opportunity to progress onto either a foundation degree or HNC/D programmes currently being offered at The Manchester College: - Business and Finance Foundation Degree - Business and IT Management Foundation Degree - Business and Marketing Foundation Degree - Business and Management Foundation Degree - Business Studies (HNC/HND).
