Course Description

Access to HE Diplomas are designed to prepare mature learners for higher education (HE). They have been specifically designed for people who may have little in the way of formal educational qualifications, but who bring to the course a variety of life and work experience, a desire to learn and a willingness to study. A supportive learning environment is provided by using a variety of methods, including classroom-based teaching, group and individual tutorials, group discussions, debates and presentations. In addition to studying the core modules, students will have the opportunity to study literacy, numeracy and information technology. The course at the Moston Campus is made up of four modules: - Core - Language and literature/history - Sociology - Psychology The course at the Northenden Campus is made up of four modules: - Core - Language and literature - History - Sociology/psychology All units are assessed and graded. There will be a variety of assessment, including: essays, case studies, presentations, exams, and reflective diaries.
