BSc (Hons) International Travel and Tourism Management

Course Description

The Tourism industry has grown and diversified to become one of the fastest growing economic sectors in the world, as well as a major income source for many developing countries. Tourism is one of the world’s largest and fastest growing industries; an industry which supports more than 235 million jobs worldwide and generates 5% of direct global GDP. This course is designed by St Patrick's. Course Content The course provides opportunities to develop the appropriate skills, tools and knowledge to operate innovatively in the global tourism and hospitality environments. The qualification develops graduates with the managerial skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in these dynamic and challenging international industries. As well as gaining a better understanding of hospitality and tourism management, you will be guided in developing your ability to evaluate and analyse and to apply your knowledge in innovative ways. Students who wish to leave the programme after successfully completing Year 1 will be able to achieve a HE Certificate in International Travel and Tourism Management award. Students who wish to exit the programme after successfully completing Year 2 will be eligible for an HE Diploma in International Travel and Tourism Management award. Students who successfully complete 300 credits over the 3 year period may be eligible to exit with a BSc award.

Career prospects within the industry include hotel, restaurant, tourism, event and leisure management, as well as functional roles in personnel, finance, marketing, research and consultancy, NGOs and government bodies.
