We encounter art in many settings and contexts in our communities. Whether it is found in museums, galleries and public spaces or experienced as performances in theaters and music venues, its enriching presence represents the hard work of not only artists, but also the efforts of arts administrators and managers. These individuals make the availability of art possible by organizing and promoting arts events, as well as securing funding and innovating ways to engage their communities. The Arts Management major is designed to give students the background and training they need to be successful arts administrators, preparing them for careers in the field or providing a strong foundation for graduate studies. The program emphasizes a passion for both art-making and arts management. For those committed to championing art as an essential ingredient of a vibrant culture, the degree offers a rewarding path.Graduates receive a Bachelor of Arts in Arts Management from the Art and Graphic Design Department. The Department of Art and Graphic Design offers a Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Design and a Bachelor of Arts in Arts Management, as well as minors in Graphic Design and Studio Arts. Students in the Graphic Design major engage in essential training using traditional and new media. Lasell’s design programs feature foundational courses in Studio Arts, such as drawing, painting, photography and 3D modeling, which challenge students in a variety of disciplines. Our Graphic Design degree program builds on the studio arts foundation with design courses that focus on composition, typography, digital imaging and illustration, animation, motion graphics, and web design, all of which are valued in a variety of professional and scholarly contexts. Our Graphic Design major and minor programs emerge from sequenced courses and a wide range of Connected Learning graphic design opportunities. Courses in both design programs also serve as rewarding electives for non-majors who recognize the value of design skills and visual literacy in other fields.
