Course Description

A concentration in Elder Care Administration gives students a focus on elder care management by studying the many effects of aging, today’s public policies regarding elder care, and the various housing and care options available to older adults. Students will graduate with a Master of Science in Management, an understanding of this growing population and the skills and knowledge necessary to take on various positions in the elder care industry, such as an elder care manager or supervisor. Gerontology courses cover the broad range of the physiological, psychological, and social effects of aging, alternative modes of senior care, aging demographic trends, issues related to housing and long-term elder care options, and more. Management courses focus on business processes, financial management, organizational behavior and theory, and more. Lasell Village, a continuing care retirement community (CCRC) located on the Lasell College campus, is a valuable resource for Elder Care Administration students, as is the RoseMary B. Fuss Center for Research and Intergenerational Studies, a center dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for older adults through gerontology research and community partnership.
