Environmental Studies

Course Description

The Environmental Studies major provides students the opportunity to examine the connections between the environment and the local and global communities. Through a combination of coursework and Connected Learning experiences, the program prepares students to address the many environmental challenges we face, including matters of public policy, economics, and ethics, and to pursue solutions to these challenges through environmental studies jobs. Students will have service-learning and internship opportunities to work on sustainability issues on campus as well as with environmental organizations in the Boston area. A Bachelor's degree in Environmental Studies will prepare students to pursue careers in environmental studies with opportunities in such fields as policy and regulation, advocacy, resource management, and outdoor education. Graduates receive a Bachelor of Arts degree from the Environmental Studies Program.

Career outcomes

Lasell Education graduates enjoy a variety of exciting career locations and settings, such as: AmeriCorps: in an immigrant community in Florida, organizing education sessions for adults and children. Teaching an integrated kindergarten class in Westford with 12 general education and 4 special education students. The integrated class format offers the children the opportunity to interact with each other throughout the school day and the teacher both supports and challenges children with a range of needs.
