Bachelor of Design (Visual Communication Design)

Course Description

Master the latest in digital technology and learn all the skills you need to be a creative and innovative designer in the challenging world of advertising and digital design. During your studies, you will enhance your core technical skills and an understanding of the role design plays in conveying meaning. Using traditional media and the latest in digital technology, our industry professionals help you cultivate your own creative process working with core design principles, typography, and visual communication theories. In your first year of study core subjects include, 2D and 3D design principles, drawing and digital studies. In your second year of study you will choose a minimum of two electives which include concept art, contextual studies, drawing, illustration, photography, 3D studies, digital audio and visual, print studies and virtual imaging. This provides you an opportunity to focus your core subject area or to take an elective course that will provide a different experience and understanding of your visual communication specialisation. You will undertake increasingly complex design projects which will enable you to identify, analyse and resolve design problems to communicate effectively with specific audiences and produce publication standard creative for print and screen. In addition, you will develop the communication skills and attributes necessary to work effectively within marketing, advertising and design.

Career outcomes
