Certificate in Pre Health and Science

Course Description

This open entry qualification will allow you to meet the academic entry requirements for the health and applied science diplomas and degrees at CPIT. This programme is for you if you want to enter health or applied science programmes but do not hold the necessary theoretical knowledge. During the Certificate in Pre Health and Science you will study several disciplines including human biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, academic skills and communication. You will also get the chance to study specialist subjects such as an introduction to health and social services. On enrolment you will select the subjects relevant to the next level of your health and science studies such as those we offer at CPIT: Human Nutrition, Laboratory Science, Medical Imaging, Midwifery, Nursing, Physical Activity, Health and Wellness and Sports and Exercise Science. In order to have the best chance of succeeding in this programme you will need a basic level of literacy and numeracy and be able to dedicate sufficient time to meet the academic study requirements. During the programme you will be required to spell technical and specialised words correctly and you will need to be able to understand and follow written and oral instructions in order to meet Health and Safety requirements in the laboratory. Please note that while entry to this programmme requires an IELTS level of 6.0 Academic, entry to some of the CPIT Health Science degrees requires a score of 6.5 or 7.0 Academic.
