Advance your expertise in 3D design modelling, animation, lighting and lens based capture for the screen with this specialisation. During your studies, you'll have the opportunity to explore exciting new media, and develop the knowledge and skills to equip you for a career as a creative an innovative designer. Your core subjects in semester one of your first year will be 2D and 3D design principles, drawing and digital studies. From semester two onwards you'll focus on more specialist subjects in the areas of 2D and 3D interactivity, Maya, after effects and contextual studies. A core thread that will underpin these areas of study will be drawing for animation and principles for animation. In your second year of study you will choose a minimum of two electives which include concept art, contextual studies, drawing, illustration, photography, 3D studies, digital audio and visual, print studies and virtual imaging. This provides you an opportunity to focus your core subject area or to take an elective course that will provide a different experience and understanding of your multimedia design specialisation. Using the latest software in years two and three, you will complete project-based assignments challenging your imagination and design skills to produce animated imagery and digital videos. You will also strengthen your communication skills, professional attitudes and collaborative practices in order to succeed in this exciting and competitive field, from the initial briefing process through to project completion. Many graduates with this degree work independently or in creative teams on web and software development projects, in film and television, digital game design studios or apply their skills to creating interactive elements for exhibitions in museums, galleries and trade shows.
