Course Description

Mechanical Engineering applies the principles of physics for analysis, design, manufacturing, and maintenance of everything you think of as a machine – from bicycles to robots to supersonic jets. Mechanical engineers design, create and improve systems and machinery used for domestic, public and industrial purposes. What you will learn After a first year common to all engineering students, you will branch out to study subjects including: * Dynamics and Acoustics * Engineering Strength of Materials * Machine Element Design * Heat and Mass Transfer * Fluid Mechanics A particular strength of the Mechanical Engineering program at JCU is the application of advanced computational techniques. Your studies culminate in an extensive thesis project — a chance to showcase your original field research and innovation.
