JCU’s Bachelor of Arts majoring in History is a stepping stone to many interesting careers. You’ll have skills and insights for careers that demand high levels of research and communication, including critical reasoning and analysis and excellent writing and research skills. You will develop the ability to construct an argument and communicate findings in a clear and persuasive manner, and the skills to discuss ideas, negotiate and summarise effectively. Historians work for many organisations in roles that include research officer, heritage officer, records manager or information officer. They also work as independent consultants to research and write histories, and conduct oral history projects for organisations such as councils or schools. With further study you can gain qualifications to become a university or high-school teacher, archivist, librarian, museum or gallery conservator, or heritage consultant. Graduates are eligible to join Professional Historians Australia (Qld).
