Course Description

The Bachelor of Arts majoring in Anthropology is highly flexible. You can combine core subjects from the social sciences with electives from, for example, Literature, Politics and International Relations, Indigenous Australian Studies or Environmental Studies. Examples of Anthropology subjects include: Asia Pacific Development; Anthropology of Violence; Sex, Drugs and Human Nature; Myth and Ritual. For additional expertise, you can combine this major with a second BA major such as Sociology, Human Services or Archaeology.

Career outcomes

After graduating you will have skills for a range of jobs in government, business, and the not-for-profit sector. Roles include international aid or development workers, community development workers, market researchers, human resources officers, charity officers, marketing officers, or equality and diversity officers. With further study, Anthropology graduates can also work in museums, heritage and conservation organisations, universities, research institutes, government departments and non-government organisations in roles including: advising on social policy, planning and development, social research, teaching and social work.
