Course Description

This is the major for students considering an IT research and development career, or those with a secondary interest who would like the flexibility to choose their own electives. The National Broadband Network, anywhere-anytime computing and convergent technologies are just some of the information technologies that are changing our everyday lives. You will study the fundamental IT technologies which link computer science with areas such as business, medicine and finance. This will give you a sound basis for professional IT careers as well as a platform to advanced studies and careers in research and development. What you will learn The Bachelor of Information Technology (Computing & Networking) is a core computer science degree and covers the following: * software engineering skills * mobile application development * data modelling and analysis * project management * problem solving through design and implementation * data and information security. Real work experience In the final year of study students will undertake an intensive, industry-standard year-long project that offers them the opportunity to work in the real world by designing technologies that demonstrate their potential.
