The Media Arts major is delivered on our Cairns campus and also online (external mode). Professional practice starts in your first year, with project work and creative collaboration. This major introduces you to contemporary media arts concepts and technologies. The Media Arts is a major in contemporary digital arts. Students are introduced to a variety of media arts disciplines including digital drawing, screen production and direction, motion graphics, digital visual arts, 3D modelling and printing, and experimental media arts. Core (common) subjects are studied in addition to the major chosen. The core subjects focus on creative industries, culture and collaboration, and prepare you for professional practice. Other majors offered: Creativity & Innovation, Media Design, Photomedia, and Music, Sound and the Moving Image.

Our students gain the creative experience, understanding and technical skills to pursue careers in video making, animation, screen and moving image production, conference and events management, visual installation, performance and production, venue production, training and educational technology, online information management, and communication. Further opportunities include careers as: artists, community arts officers, arts administrators, gallery managers, arts education officers, arts retailing, and exhibitions management.
