JCU fast tracks you into the workforce with practical skills and experience blended with sound local knowledge. Combining business and psychological science provides graduates with and insight into human behaviour and explores how this impacts on organisations within the context of recruitment, employee relations and human resources. You will participate in real-world experiences and learn from our researchers, managers and lecturers, who are experts in their field. Our Business majors are designed with input from industry experts and uses current research results for real-world relevance. Our lecturers have strong business and academic credentials and focus on creating a challenging and inspiring learning environment. Our Psychology staff have a research focus that includes forensic psychology, social psychology, mental health, stress, cognitive sciences, personality assessment, ageing and geriatric mental health. We encourage our students to actively engage in current research, and we host a series of annual seminars presented by national and international experts. We also have active psychology clubs and organisations on both campuses, where you will meet fellow students with similar interests and share your experiences.

Psychology provides excellent training in analytic thinking and scientific research methods that are relevant to a broad range of careers. If you decide not to gain accreditation you can seek employment in fields such as community services and counselling, business and market research, education, administration, and management. You can also choose to become a registered psychologist by pursuing further study in an accredited program. Graduates of this course, who wish to become fully registered as psychologists, must complete an accredited fourth year course (e.g. GDipPsych or BPsychSc(Hons)) plus two years of supervised practice in the field; or an accredited masters degree (e.g. Master of Psychology (Clinical)) with one further year of supervised practice.
