This degree combines a study of two of the richest and most influential cultures in the world through a detailed study of English literature (from Beowulf to Tom Wolfe) and the study of Chinese culture and literature in its various manifestations across the entire span of China's pre-modern and modern history. The degree aims at laying the foundations for further academic study or for a career involving regular contact with China. Being a small institution, our strengths are a personal approach to learning and intensive contacts between students and their lecturers. The course does not require prior experience in China or of the Chinese language.
