A-Level Photography

Course Description

You will explore elements of visual language and skills such as the formal elements, the ability to respond to an issue, concept or theme, appreciation of composition, appropriate use of the camera, presentation and layout and the techniques related to printing and editing photographic images. You will also learn about the importance of organisation, accuracy, consistency, development and creativity. Different forms of photography that you will study include; portraiture, landscapes, documentary, camera skills, experimental imagery and photographic installation, video, television and film.

Career outcomes

An A-Level in photography will support and strengthen your progression to an art foundation course or a full creative degree such as art, photography, fashion promotion, advertising or journalism. It also provides the creative and practical skills required to start a career in a creative role within a photography or advertising agency, fashion studio or media company.
