You will study five modules over the two year course. The modules cover theory and practical activities including a practical investigation. In the first year you will study atomic structure, radioactivity and particle physics before moving onto quantum phenomena (e.g. photo electricity and wave particle duality), electrical currents, AC and DC circuits, mechanics, (forces, motion, moments and energy) and waves and optics. You will also complete a practical based investigation. In the second year you will study the theme of mechanics (momentum, circular motion and simple harmonic motion), gravitational, electric and magnetic fields, capacitors and electromagnetic induction, radioactivity, thermal physics and gases and astrophysics. You will also complete your second practical based investigation. This year students measured the acceleration of freefall using flip cameras and analysing the footage using video software.
