Course Description

The Bachelor of Applied Social Science aims to ground students in the applied social sciences with a well-developed understanding of social systems, sociological theory, and social policy. The program integrates theory, social research, skills and professional experience, preparing you with critical thinking skills for employment in the workforce in public, private and community settings. The Bachelor of Applied Social Science introduces students to the broad field of applied social science, combining theory and practice in an interactive learning environment through small classes, group discussions, activities and role-plays. The Bachelor of Applied Social Science degree allows students to choose between a minor in Counselling or Coaching, in which they complete three units of study. The course also includes two professional placements totalling 250 hours complemented by 36 timetabled hours of seminars over two trimesters.
