Master of Counselling and Psychotherapy

Course Description

This course is designed as an advanced (second) training in contemporary counselling and psychotherapy. The Masters course includes 16 coursework units (each with on-campus and online components), two applied research units undertaken on a negotiated project, an in depth placement taken over two consecutive trimesters with 240 hours in total of placement (including 80 hours of client contact), and an additional 24 hours of clinical supervision provided in small groups by ACAP. This course has been accredited by PACFA, the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia. Graduates of the Masters course will be eligible to be listed on the PACFA register at Intern, Provisional or Clinical level depending on their experience and as Accredited Supervisors once the required hours of supervision practice have been completed.
