BSc (Hons) Media Technology

Course Description

In years one and two of your media technology degree, you will receive a balance of practice and theory. You will explore interactive media/multimedia technology applications, internet technology and graphics. You will learn how to use computing and multimedia for the film and broadcasting industries, internet and multimedia authoring development, audio and visual media systems, and studio production skills. You can also explore developments in new media design. In your final year of your media technology degree, you can specialise in your chosen area and will be part of a multi-disciplined team for a group project. Modules include computer-based media production using industry-standard tools and approaches, how to broadcast and store audio/video information, virtual reality and multimedia. Career outcomes

This degree will prepare you for a successful career in media systems and production, multimedia development and authoring, internet technologies, the computer industry, broadcasting and marketing. Recent graduates have gained employment with BSkyB, BBC, and Dinamo Productions, among others. This course encourages entrepreneurship and some graduates have developed their own businesses, often using an idea or project that was conceived during their studies.
