Course Description

Foundation Year The Foundation Year focuses on the study of mechanics and mathematics in order to provide a good numerical background that will support you throughout the remainder of the degree. Core subjects deal with fundamental engineering principles, structural engineering, geotechnics, hydraulics and environmental engineering. These are supported by a broad educational base that includes an understanding and knowledge of mathematics, health and safety, management, the integration of sustainability in civil engineering practice, IT skills and other complementary topics. This approach is strengthened by the use of industry-standard software for the design and construction of civil engineering projects. Following your initial foundation year, you will progress onto the modules studied as part of the BEng (Hons) Civil Engineering degree.
