The first year provides the context for a study of finance. You would study the legal, economic and business contexts as well as introductory accounting and quantitative methods. This degree has been developed in conjunction with employers, the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII), and the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment (CISI). As such, graduates will be prepared for careers in financial planning, investment management, consultancy and financial services. Career prospects The financial services industry is one of the biggest and most lucrative of any sector covering a broad range of products and services offered by financial institutions. This course prepares you for a career in a variety of areas including banks, investment, consultancy and equity trading. Work/study placements At the University of South Wales, you can also choose to study over four years, so you can spend a year in the workplace to gain practical experience and put what you have learnt into practice. You could also apply for a short-term (up to three months) placement as part of your final year of study (subject to validation). A great option if you want a mixture of academic and practical learning, teaching and assessment.
