Civil, environmental and building engineering

Course Description

The Course is aimed at providing the basic scientific Education to face the second Level Degree (Masters in Civil and Building Engineering). Moreover, the Course is intended for undergraduate training in problem solving and decision making in the field of Civil & Building Engineering (Building Constructions, Roads, Geotechnical and Hydraulic Constructions, Urban Planning, Environmental Sustenaibility of Buildings etc.). The course consists of two curricula: a) civil-environmental engineering; b) building engineering. The two curricula have differences for 15 ECTS at the second year and 24 ECTS at the third year. Practical placement for 6 to 12 ECTS is possible at the University Laboratories or Private Companies or Technical Offices of the Public Administration.

Career outcomes

Graduates of the Programma will be able to demonstrate: (a) Knowledge of Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry as necessary tools for solving technical - scientific problems of the Civil & Building Engineer profession; (b) Deep Knowledge of typical Civil & Building Engineering subjects (Structural Mechanics, Structural Engineering, Geotechnics, Transportation Engineering, Hydraulics, Energetic % Acoustic design of Buildings); (c) Knowledge of Regulations in the field of Civil/Building Engineering and Urban Planning, as well as of the necessary tools to evaluate and compare construction or retrofitting and maintainance costs (d) Basic knowledge of other european languages (e) Basic knowledge of Computer Science (f) Knowledge of other engineering subjects (Electrical Engineering, Technical Physics). (g) Ability to design simple and repetitive structures or infrastructures including the safety measures during construction works. (h) Awareness of a sustainable design of buildings and infrastructures
