This three-year full-time degree course, which includes a 20-week RAU work placement programme in year two, provides you with a thorough grounding in general business management and, additionally, provides an opportunity to study particular themes within business management in greater depth. The aim of the course is to equip you with analytical and problem-solving skills which you can use within a business context. A great deal of time is spent developing communication and presentation skills which are particularly vital in work environments. Course Structure In the first and second years, you will study a module in a modern foreign language at either beginner, intermediate or advanced level, dependent on previous experience. In the final year, you will spend up to 50 per cent of your time studying topics and subjects of your choice. This is achieved partly through the choice of elective modules, as above, and partly through the development of a research enquiry leading to the submission of a dissertation. The learning approach to this degree includes input from experienced visiting lecturers, case studies, seminar work and tutorials. Assessment on the course is, on the whole, via various forms of coursework (essays, reports, presentations, tests, group work and so on) although there are timed, unseen examinations at the end of each year.

The course aims to equip graduates to use their business training, in-depth knowledge of specialist areas such as marketing, finance, human resources and general management and/or language skills, to pursue a career in business, nationally or internationally. Potentially available are roles in the City as a commodity trader or analyst, consultancy and advisory positions with government and international private agencies, public administration, professional, trade or labour organisations. Occupations in communications, media and event management are ideal for graduates.
