Animation (MA)

Course Description

Animation is fun; animation is also the most successful application of digital technology in the creative arts. The animation industry is booming, with films like Rango, Frankenweenie and The Snowman and the Snowdog attracting massive audiences. Animation is also widely used in advertising, games, contemporary art, information graphics, film and entertainment. The MA Animation - a course based on years of successful Animation teaching and practice at the Cass - recognises traditional modes of animation production and delivery. But it also acknowledges and embraces the impact made by new technologies that have resulted in contemporary animation’s central role in visual culture. If you have a background in animation, film and video, photography, illustration, communication design or interactive moving image then this course will interest you. The course is one of our many successful art, architecture and design courses at the Cass’s enhanced Faculty in Whitechapel. All of our courses encourage an integrated approach to critical, creative and technical thinking and practice with live projects and ‘pop-up’ events offering opportunities for interaction across the courses within Cass and with the thriving local art and design scene in East London. You will have the opportunity to propose and develop your own projects, supported through the taught elements of the course. You will also benefit from working with other animation students from many different backgrounds and cultures.
