Course Description

Course overview The course aims to provide students with broad, up-to-date and advanced scientific and academic knowledge of addiction and mental health together with their subsequent impact on individuals and society. It will also provide students with a theoretical and practical understanding, relating to the main factors influencing addiction including biological, social, cultural, psychological and economic perspectives. Students will also develop skills relating to the research, assessment, management and treatment of addiction. Aimed at making a contribution to training needs of all those who have a role to play in providing services within addiction across the health, social welfare, education and youth justice services, it also provides an opportunity for career change.
