Course Description

Music Technology at IT, Tralee covers a wide spectrum of skills from composition and production using industry standard software and hardware to live sound engineering, audio post production, sound for games, electronics, synthesis and sensor technology. This course provides an excellent opportunity to explore musical creativity and production with computer applications. The course has been carefully constructed after wide discussion with creative and technical professionals in the music industry. It provides students with a very high level of technical skills and knowledge in the area of music technology, combined with the opportunity to develop their creative ability. The course focuses on developing the skills required to create content for music and digital media industries.

Students will acquire competency in the theory and technologies associated with the fields of music composition and production, sound engineering and recording, music education, community music, sound for film/radio/TV/multimedia, audio post production, internet streaming, location sound recording, sound synthesis and design, audio for games, etc. The resulting graduate will have a cross-platform of skills including knowledge of music composition and of the computer applications associated with the music and audio for media industry.
