The physics program at Houston Baptist University provides a firm foundation in the theoretical and experimental aspects of physics. We take care to make sure our curriculum is rigorous enough to give you a real education. In addition, the physics program offers courses for non-science majors: Physics for the Liberal Arts Mind; Astronomy and the Universe; and Physics of Sound. Read more in our course catalog (button on the right.) Our faculty are deeply committed to teaching and research. One-on-one interaction of students with faculty members is the norm. Research is the heart of physics. That's why we make research opportunities with faculty are available to undergraduates. Currently, our faculty are involved in theoretical, experimental, and applied physics research. Areas of research include biophysics, phenomenological studies in quantum gravity, and methods of teaching physics. Students are also encouraged to participate in summer internships and research programs at other universities and research institutions.

With a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics you can go on to graduate school, and to careers in industry, medicine, law, education, computer science, mathematics, engineering, or in nontraditional areas such as finance and economics. Our recent graduates have been accepted and have received teaching assistantships and fellowships to attend graduate school at North Carolina State University, University of Oklahoma, Texas A&M, University of Arizona, Ohio State University, Northwestern University, University of Maryland, University of Houston, Cornell University, Georgia Institute of Technology, Vanderbilt University and have gone to Purdue University, University of Rochester, Rutgers University, University of Houston, Harvard University and University of Wisconsin for graduate studies in medical physics, optics, physics and engineering.
