BSc (Hons) Animal Management (top-up)

Course Description

The programme will build upon the learning you gained during your previous course and help you develop your career working with animals. The UWE Hartpury 360-hectare estate gives you access to more than 30 different animal species and specialist equipment including a well-stocked animal house, grooming parlour and Equine Therapy Centre. Hartpury also strong links and partnerships with industry such as animal charities, welfare organisations and government bodies that all provide opportunities to equip you with the necessary knowledge and skills to take in to the workplace. This programme offers a range of optional subjects allowing you to tailor your degree to your own areas of interest and career aims. These will cover areas such as behaviour husbandry, disease and health, rural land management and research.

Career outcomes

Upon graduation, you will be able to take up positions in a wide variety of occupations within the relevant animal-related industries, such as welfare officers, technicians, animal health officers and nutritionists. Throughout your time at Hartpury you will have access to careers advice and individual tutorial support which will assist you in tailoring your module choices towards a specific career interest. You could also progress on to further study including Master’s and PhDs. Students who wish to undertake further research can use opportunities for conference attendance and presentation such as the Student Animal Welfare Conference and BSAS.
