BTEC Level 1 Diploma Work-Based Animal

Course Description

This work-based course is designed to provide you with the skills and qualifications necessary to progress on to further studies. You will be given the opportunity to work practically with a range of large and small exotic and domestic animals to gain a foundation understanding of how to care for them. Alongside your qualification, you will also study literacy, numeracy and ICT as well as life skills. This course is an excellent stepping stone in to Level 2 education. Career outcomes

On successful completion of this course, where possible, you are able to progress on to the Level 2 Extended Certificate or Diploma in Animal Care. Once a foundation understanding of the animal care industry has been gained, it is possible to continue in other more specific fields offered at the College, for example, dog grooming or training as an animal nursing assistant. Career opportunities include: kennel or cattery worker, pet shop assistant, veterinary assistant or receptionist and animal collection worker.
