Course Description

Our School of Business offers one of the few mandatory commerce co-op programs in Canada and provides the opportunity to gain "real world" business experience. Dalhousie has offered its Commerce degree for more than 80 years, and it has been a co-op program for 20 years. It's also accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). You'll complete three mandatory co-op work terms and have the option of graduating with a general commerce co-op degree or declaring one of seven major options. Co-op work terms allow you to develop valuable skills, gain workplace experience, build a network of professional contacts and gain greater self-confidence before you begin your career—all while earning a pay cheque.

Having this designation will ensure you have acquired all the competencies that the marketplace demands and will also start you out at a higher salary. Accounting majors can also work in a number of areas for government, not-for-profit organizations, and other corporate or entrepreneurial areas as: budget analysts financial consultants management consultants system professionals.
