Course Description

Engineers are problem solvers, constantly trying to find better ways to do things, whether designing a better laptop, making safer cars, finding ways to harness wind energy - even attempting to make a concrete canoe float. As an engineering student, you'll think both analytically and creatively. You'll work in student teams and learn to communicate effectively and be prepared for a career in any number of well-paying, challenging fields. Chemical Engineering prepares students for a variety of careers in the chemical and process industries. These may include traditional areas of environmental control, plastics and polymers, pulp and paper, instrumentation and process control, petrochemicals, petroleum and natural gas processing, and energy conversion and utilization. Students may also work in the growing fields of biotechnology, food processing, composite material, corrosion and protective coatings, and microelectronic component manufacturing.
