Accounting (BBus)

Course Description

All businesses need to record details of their trading transactions (e.g. sales and purchases) so that they know who owes them money and what money they owe. This information is also used to assess the financial ‘health’ of the business and to make plans for the future. Accountants are involved in making many decisions necessary for the efficient operation of a business. Therefore, a well-run accounting function is critically important to the long-term management of a business. This course offers a firm base for either further academic study or for pursuing a professional qualification with one of the professional accountancy bodies. Students who graduate with the Bachelor of Business in Accounting will find an interesting range of job opportunities in a variety of accountancy practices or in industry. Most subjects focus in-depth on the accounting discipline. Graduates are entitled to exemptions from the professional bodies on successful completion of this programme and further exemptions on successful completion of an Honours Degree.
