Biomedical Engineering applies the principles of science, engineering and medicine directly to the complex medical technologies used in prognosis, diagnosis, monitoring and treatment of the sick and injured. The area is growing exponentially and the demand for biomedical engineers is increasing rapidly.

The BEng Biomedical Engineering is accredited by the major professional engineering bodies - The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), the Institute of Measurement and Control (InstMC), and the Institute of Physics and Engineering in Medicine (IPEM) - with whom we maintain close professional links. The biomedical engineering field is very wide and graduates can find employment in areas such as the medical technology industry, pharmaceutical industry, Ministry of Health and other health related departments, and biomedical research.
