Course Description

This new MSc Advanced Nurse Practitioner - Adult, Child and Neonatal Course is aimed at senior nurses who are looking to move into nurse practitioner roles with a specialism in neonatal, child or adult. The nurse practitioner route will provide advanced clinical skills enabling nurses to work as advanced nurse practitioners in a range of different clinical contexts. Students have the opportunity to discuss key debates in health and social care provision in multi-professional and interdisciplinary contexts. The course develops your research skills and critical thinking and provides the opportunity to conduct a research project under expert supervision, laying the foundations for independent research in the future.

Career outcomes

As a graduate you will be able to influence the nursing practice of people at both a direct and indirect level through the development of services and the application of research to clinical practice. The course will prepare you to take on nurse practitioner roles and other senior positions including care manager, nurse consultant or clinical leadership. Successful completion of the MSc fulfils the requirements for advanced practitioner roles in a range of health and social care contexts and qualifies you to apply for research posts and to conduct independent research.
