Since Civil engineering applies to all levels of human life, opportunities before eminent professionals are manifold. In the UAE alone, the Government is expected to invest $1.6 billion on electricity and waterworks network and a further AED 7.5 billion in development of pre-approved projects. Civil Engineers are employed in all the major construction projects carried out by the government, the railways, private construction companies, military, engineering services, multi-national oil companies, consultancy services, teaching institutions etc. Civil Engineers can find work as a supervisor of a construction site or a managerial position or in design, research as well as teaching in government services or private concerns. They can also work as independent consultants.
