Course Description

Classical studies examines the ancient civilizations of the Mediterranean, particularly the ancient Greeks and Romans. Studying the ancient Greek and Latin languages allows students to engage in, and understand, the great writings and material artifacts that are our greatest legacy from the ancient world. This program looks into various aspects of the ancient world, including ancient Greek and Latin languages, ancient literature, drama, mythology, religion, history, sport, philosophy and gender issues. • Three and four-year programs lead to a Bachelor of Arts • Students are able to understand the vocabulary, structure and development of many modern languages, including Canada’s two official languages • Qualified students may participate in summer programs throughout North America and archaeological excavations around the Mediterranean • The program develops the ability to think critically and improves language and communication skills • Our program covers a period of over 4,000 years in ancient history, literature, archaeology and civilizations
