Biochemistry with German for Science

Course Description

To ensure that our graduates have a broad education applicable to many career choices, some degree options are delivered jointly with other departments: Courses with a management component are taught jointly with Imperial College Business School Courses with languages are taught jointly with the Centre for Co-Curricular Studies Courses are regularly reviewed in order to ensure their content and structure is up to date. Each of our degree streams also offers the opportunity to study French, German or Spanish as part of the programme. In addition to the science curriculum, students also attend language classes in their first, second and fourth years, and spend the third year at a partner university overseas. Students following a biotechnology or biochemistry programme follow the same core modules in the first two years of study before specialising, heading overseas, or spending a year in industry in their third year. Core modules in the first year include: Biological Chemistry Molecular Biology Cell Biology Proteins and Enzymes In the second year there are four core modules, including Genes and Genomics and Protein Structure and Function, and an optional course to be taken from outside the Biochemistry syllabus (often a humanities or business module).
