If you have a strong interest in the communications field and want to extend your understanding of theory and history in communications at the same time as you learn practical hands-on communication skills, this eight-month, two semester program may be for you. Students graduating with the Advanced Professional Communications certificate will have foundation acquired level knowledge in the history and theory of communication studies. Therefore, they will be eligible to move into further academic study leading to a Communication Studies diploma and eventually to a BA in Communication. As well, students successfully completing this program will have the knowledge gained in applied communication courses: public speaking, magazine and newspaper journalism, business writing, and strategic communications. They will also understand the job markets in the communication industries, and have the knowledge required to pursue and sustain employment in entry-level communication positions.
