You may enrol in either the 10-month Accounting Assistant Certificate program or the 2-year Accounting Assistant Diploma program. Our instructors bring practical, up-to-date business knowledge to the classroom, sharing the expertise that has made them successful in the business community. After just ten months in the Accounting Assistant Certificate program, you will be qualified to work as a full-charge accountant in a small business, as an accounts receivable/accounts payable clerk in a medium or large business, and as a self-employed bookkeeper. With the Accounting Assistant Diploma program, you will qualify for greater responsibility as an office manager, supervisory level positions, and positions in middle management. Here are the types of positions that suit graduates from the Accounting Assistant Certificate program: * Entry level position in accounts receivable in a medium or large company * Entry level position in accounts payable in a medium or large company * General accountant for a small company, handling accounts receivable, accounts payable, and payroll * Self-employment as a bookkeeper. Record the accounting transactions for accounts receivable, accounts payable, and payroll for a variety of small companies. Career Progression Many graduates start in entry level positions and progress to have responsible positions after a few years. Students who achieve a minimum grade of "B" in the following courses will receive credit from Business Administration: * BTEC 252 may substitute for BADM 106 * BTEC 117 and BTEC 217 may substitute for BFIN 141 * BTEC 125 and BTEC 126 may substitute for BCPT 123 and a business computing elective * Upon completion of the Accounting Assistant program, BTEC 211 may substitute for CMNS 220
