Course Description

Qualifications for anyone looking for a career in sport, with a big focus on Outdoor Adventure. You will learn through a mix of both practical and classroom sessions and have the opportunity to gain experience and develop skills in a number of different outdoor activities. You will also have the opportunity to go on college excursions which may include surfing in Cornwall, Mountaineering in Snowdonia, or river canoeing. Course features You will develop an in-depth working knowledge of the anatomy and physiology of the body which will provide a basis for learning massage techniques, assessment process in preparation for massage, use of electrical equipment to speed recovery from injury, basic taping and strapping techniques and sports nutrition. Some of the modules include, applying sports massage methods to pathological tissue, management of injury and illness, functional anatomy, physiology and nutrition for sports therapies, applying taping and strapping for general support in sport and active leisure, applying hot and cold techniques in sport and active leisure, applying the principles of nutrition to a physical activity programme, Sports rehabilitation, field-based fitness testing for sport and exercise.
