The journey to becoming an artist, designer or digital media specialist is not a prescribed one – rather it is a career path with a myriad of diverse experiences and possibilities. Our degree has been designed to prepare you for the opportunities of a rapidly evolving landscape of art, design and digital media. The Bachelor of Creative Technologies (BCT) has a strong focus on building interdisciplinary understanding. Learning is tailored to mirror industry, with practical learning components, group workshops, collaborative projects and portfolio-based assessments. During each year of your three-year degree (full-time), you will be required to take a combination of Compulsory Courses, Major Courses and Elective Courses. If you select to have no specified major, you can choose to build your study pathway through a range of Elective Courses – making up the required number of credits. To gain a Bachelor of Creative Technologies, you will need to complete 360 credits – 120 credits (8 x 15 credit courses) each year for a full-time study programme. You’ll follow the evolution of static, two-dimensional print media into an expanded range of visual communication via multimedia and interactive applications. You’ll explore digital media. From simple television advertisements to complex multi-platform marketing packages. From short-films to abstract animations. Choose a specialist area of focus. Animation. Graphic design (print). Digital film and television. Photography. Specialisations Animation Explore virtual reality and mixed reality development - Oculus. Focus on illustration, game design and multimedia projects. Develop your own characters in 3D using the latest techniques and software. Graphic design (print) Work on projects covering logo design, magazine layouts, posters and spatial graphics (Wayfinding). Learn traditional print techniques like letterpress and screenprinting. Digital film and television Work on our horror film project. Be part of a team producing a full-length feature film. Work on multiple facets of the film including scriptwriting, storyboarding, conceptual art, modelling, continuity, camera and lighting tuition, art department, wardrobe, sound recording and design, location scouting, editing and visual and practical effects. Photography Explore camera essentials like exposure, white balance, composition, file management, darkroom and colour printing. Grow your studio and post-production skills and techniques.
