Do you want to teach young children? Or are you currently unqualified and working in an early childhood setting? If so, then Wintec’s Bachelor of Teaching (Early Childhood Education) is designed just for you. This degree offers you the opportunity to learn the theoretical knowledge of early childhood teaching as well as undertake field-based education. Field-based education enables you to regularly put your classroom learning into practice. This will result in you graduating with excellent knowledge and skills for teaching in early childhood settings. Classes are one day and one evening per week and a minimum of 12 hours per week in a licensed and chartered early childhood education service, as well as self-directed learning. This programme is approved by NZQA and the New Zealand Teachers Council, and is studied over three years or six years part-time.

The Bachelor of Teaching (Early Childhood Education) may lead to employment as an Early Childhood Teacher in Childcare, Homebased Childcare Visiting Teacher, Kindergarten and other early childhood settings. There is also the opportunity to become part of the wider teaching community in roles such as an Associate Teacher or Mentor. You may also choose to continue onto further study at postgraduate.
